Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is a significant USMC West Coast base in San Diego County. Established in 1942, it’s named after Major General Joseph Henry Pendleton.

Hosting I Marine Expeditionary Force and training units, MCB Camp Pendleton spans 125,000 acres. Its history dates back to 1769 Spanish expeditions and later ranching.
