Description

This GI Woodland Camo Boonie Hat is made from a durable ripstop material that protects you from the sun and rain.

The wide brim blocks sunlight from your eyes and the material keeps you cool on hot days. There are branch loops made of a tough nylon webbing along the crown for durability. There are also bellowed drain holes on the crown for ventilation and a breathable interior.

A leather keeper holds the hat in place when you sweat or are in motion and the adjustable chin cord allows for easy size customization. It also lets the hat be taken off and carried around the neck.

About US Woodland Camouflage

The U.S. Woodland camouflage pattern, colloquially known as M81, was the primary camouflage of the United States Marine Corps from 1981 until its replacement by digital MARPAT in 2002.

Featuring a high-contrast, four-color design in green, brown, sand, and black, it was first issued on the Battle Dress Uniform. Woodland camo was also used by the Army, Navy, Air Force, and State defense forces. It saw action in various conflicts including the invasions of Grenada and Panama, the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, and the Iraq War.

The Woodland pattern is an enlarged version of the brown-dominant ERDL pattern, expanded by 60%. This increase enhances its effectiveness over greater distances. This change reflects a strategic shift from the close-range combat of South Vietnam to broader battlefield engagements.
